  We have welcomed in a new year and a new decade and we are looking forward to what 2020 may bring for Colsterworth Primary School.

   

  We have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned and plenty of chances to fly like the geese and show off our Colsterworth WOW factor.

   

   

   

  

• Christmas celebrations

  On Monday 16th December we held our attendance assembly. A huge amount of children received their bronze attendance certificate to show that they have attended school every day since September and are now aiming for their silver certificate in the Easter term. 

   

  Nightingale class won the class attendance award with 97% attendance for the year so far and claimed the £25 Amazon voucher to spend on resources for their class. 

   

  A very excited Alfie-Lee was pulled out of the hat for his 100% attendance. He and his family won the Christmas hamper to celebrate the festive season. 

   

  Attendance is very important to our children and this term's attendance assembly showed how dedicated our children and their parents and carers are!

  

• Choir show they have the Colsterworth WOW factor again!

  All I can say is WOW! 

   

  Our amazing choir sang their hearts out today in the final of the Oldrids and Downtown Choir Competition and we could not asked for more from any of our children.  

   

  Their performances of Candlelight Silent Night and We Wish You All A Merry Christmas were perfect and saw us taking the first prize of £500. 

   

  Well done to all those involved and thank you to the parents and carers for supporting this event and bringing your children along to take part.

  

• Colsterworth KS2 Choir sing their way to the final!

  There were tears of joy and whoops of excitement last night as our fantastic KS2 choir took part in the Oldrids and Downtown Christmas Choir Competition. Their performance of Candlelight Silent Night was absolutely flawless and has won them a place in Saturday's final where they will compete against three other schools to win the title.

   

  Watch this space for the results or pop down to Downtown Garden Centre at about 3pm on Saturday to listen to the choir perform.

   

  

• PTFA Christmas Fair is a big hit!

  We had a fantastic turn out at our PTFA Christmas Fair tonight. WOW! What an incredible Santa's Grotto. It was lovely to see the children enjoying the face painting, crafts and racing the cute Christmas pigs. A big thank you to Charlotte and her team for organising and we can't wait to hear the final amount raised.

  

• Christmas has come to Colsterworth!

  Our school Christmas tree arrived in school last night and the Breakfast Club children were excited to start decorating this morning. We now have the most beautiful centrepiece in the hall for our Christmas celebrations.

  

• Agent of Change has the 'WOW Factor'!

  Year 6 pupil Rhys definitely has the Colsterworth 'WOW Factor' and is an 'Agent of Change'. He decided that he wanted to make a difference not just to our Colsterworth family but to the wider community by organising a collection for the Foodbank. Off his own back he wrote a letter to Reverend Neil to see what could be done. Watch this space for details of the Foodbank collection.

  

• Rain Reigns Supreme in Christmas Card Competition

  Back in October Reverend Neil set the school a task to design a Christmas card for the Village Churches. Many of our children created fantastic pieces of art to enter the competition. After much deliberation by Reverend Neil and his team, Rain in Year 2 was picked as the winner. His Christmas card design has now been printed onto a card to be sent out to every house in Colsterworth and the surrounding villages. Rain really thought about the colours he was using, how to blend the colours together and what he wanted his Christmas card to look like. An amazing ‘take care’ design and we know all of the families will enjoy receiving their Christmas card this Christmas.

  

• Two Special Visitors!

  Mason and Becky joined Nightingale class to enhance their Science and PSHE learning. The children re-capped some Year 1 objectives such as animals and omnivores, herbivores and carnivores. Then, we moved onto some Year 2 objectives such as animal habitats, what humans and animals need to survive and what they eat. We went beyond our Science curriculum by thinking about what a pet needs. We also learnt about how to hold a rabbit and how to care for one. The children were ever so compassionate and really took care of our bunnies in school. When it was wet play at lunchtime, they all decided together they would have a calm, colouring session so they didn’t disturb/scare the rabbits. Well done Nightingale, you’re all so thoughtful and lovely. 

  

• Hawking are Walking Like An Egyptian

  Hawking class wowed an audience of parents this morning with their performance of 'That's Not My Mummy! They sang and acted their way through a fact-filled class assembly which took us on a journey back to the world of the Egyptian pharoahs. The children thoroughly enjoyed performing and definitely showed us the Colsterworth 'WOW Factor.'
