Our 2023-24 Eco Warriors were elected on Democracy Day, September 2023.  They will have a busy year as we will be applying for Green Flag Award again in July 2024.

Our Eco Warriors have completed an Environmental Review and will be focussing on Energy, Transport and Waste this year.

In November we took part in the national ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ campaign.  The Eco Warriors encouraged their classmates to switch off lights and devices that weren’t being used.  Our Y6 Warriors went with Mr Mitchell to read the meters at the start, middle and end of the campaign to see how much energy we saved.

In March the Eco Warriors encouraged others to park and stride during the Big Walk and Wheel campaign.  They collected the totals daily and put them in the national league table alongside the 667 other schools taking part.

Mini Eco

Mini Eco Club has ensured that its never too early to ‘Save the World’ and become an Agent of Change at Colsterworth.

The children have created a habitat for minibeasts by building a Bug Hotel.   They used a variety of recycled resources to give a range of hotel ‘rooms’.   This will hopefully encourage insects which pollinate our flowers and plants around school.

To create an environment that they are proud of and that is safe for children and wildlife, Eco Club went on a litter pick.  They were super sensible whilst they collected rubbish and when they were finished, they tidied everything away and washed their hands.
