Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Well done to all of our Golden Book children this week.
The Key Stage 1 and 2 children were buzzing with excitement as they watched the Royal Institution of Science's Explosive Food show, an eye-opening exploration into the science behind what we eat. The show revealed the incredible amount of energy stored in food, using a variety of thrilling chemistry and physics demonstrations that had the entire audience captivated.
From spectacular fizzy fountains of Coke shooting into the air to some hilariously gross, yet fascinating, insights into how our digestive system works, the children were treated to a sensory-packed experience that balanced education with fun. The dramatic visuals and interactive elements not only amazed but also engaged the children in thinking about the science behind everyday things—like food—in a whole new way.
From the beginning to the end the children were a captivating audience, the atmosphere was electric, and it was clear that the children's curiosity had been sparked. We had a room full of potential future scientists, eagerly discussing what they had learned and keen to explore more.
A huge thank you to Bourne Sci-Fest for providing our pupils with this wonderful, hands-on opportunity to learn and be inspired!

An amazing achievement by a year 4 pupil this week competing in a Swimming Gala for the Grantham Swim club against much older children.
We will watch out for her in the Olympics in a few years time! A superstar in the making!
We marked our Democracy Day 2024, at Colsterworth Primary School, this week. The children had opportunity to vote at our polling station today. We started this important event with a collective worship all about the core British Value of Democracy. The children know the importance of having the right to have their voice heard. We take great pride at Abbey Academies in our democratic election process, which enables every child to vote for their chosen representatives who will form the incoming Council for the year ahead. There were also many other school roles to vote for on the day. The children throughout the week held hustings in their classes, to garner support for their manifestos.
The votes were counted on the day and with great excitement, the results of the elections were announced in a special celebration assembly. The successful candidates were awarded their badges.
Sarah Croxall, Student Council lead said, “Every year the children who want to stand for council, confidently put themselves forward. It is wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm for this important democratic process, which they take very seriously. It gives me great pride to see how respectful all the children are to see their democratic right put into practice and the rights of every child in school to have a voice is relevant. It is a skill that they will use in their future lives.”
We are excited to see what new ideas are going to be brought to our Student Council meetings this year!
Well done to all of our Golden Book children this week.
