• A Right Royal Kind of Day

  To launch their new topic ‘A Royally Good Time, the children in Kittens class took part in a Royal Dress Up Day. Everyone looked wonderful wearing their most regal outfits, including party clothes and dressing‑up costumes.

  Throughout the day, the children enjoyed a range of exciting activities. They designed and made their own crowns, listened to traditional tales featuring kings and queens, and finished the day by dancing together at a royal ball. It was a fun and memorable start to our new topic, and the children showed great enthusiasm and creativity.

  

• London’s Burning! Fetch the Engine!

  What an amazing day Leopard Class had as they were transported back in time to London in 1666! To kickstart our new history topic, the children enjoyed a rich and exciting enrichment day exploring the events of the Great Fire of London.
  The day began at the bakery, where the children used salt dough
  to recreate bread, linking to Thomas Farriner’s famous bakery. They then stepped into the past using dance and drama to retell the story of the fire spreading through the city. The children worked together to show panic, excitement and teamwork as London burned around them.
  In the afternoon, creativity continued through art. The children studied and drew tall, narrow houses just like those found in 17th-century London. They explored why the buildings were so close together
  and how this helped the fire to spread so quickly.
  It was a fun, memorable and hands-on day of learning that brought history to life. Leopard Class showed fantastic enthusiasm, imagination and teamwork throughout the day.

• A world made of cold

  The beginning of our topic- Chilly Poles & Toasty tropics- was certainly an icy one! To help us begin to understand the conditions in Antarctica, we explored the snowy school grounds (in temperatures of -3!) looking at the impact the cold had upon the environment (and us!).
