Today, we hosted our highly anticipated Art Day, marking the return of a beloved event that celebrates creativity and imagination while raising vital funds for the school’s art curriculum.
This exciting occasion saw students embracing their artistic flair by wearing their regular uniforms with a colorful twist—replacing one item with a garment in a primary color (red, blue, or yellow) and making a small donation to support the continued growth of its art provision.
In the lead-up to Art Day, the community was encouraged to donate materials such as unwanted rolls of wallpaper, plain bedding, and chalks. Pupils also had the chance to participate in various creative activities throughout the day, including break and lunchtime workshops designed to inspire their artistic talents.
A key feature of the event was the shirt-decorating activity, where children brought an old shirt or t-shirt to personalize—an item they could continue using in their art lessons.
The school would like to express gratitude for the ongoing support and generosity of the Colsterworth community, emphasizing that participation in Art Day will help to cultivate the artistic potential of its pupils.
Year 5 took their audience on a thrilling journey back in time this morning to Ancient Greece in their class assembly, "It's All Greek to Me!". The immersive performance transported spectators to a world of gods, myths, and legendary events, bringing history to life in a captivating and educational way.
The assembly unfolded as a time-travel adventure, with students acting as school children who stepped through a magical portal into the ancient past. Along the way, they encountered famous Greek figures, witnessed the birth of the Olympic Games, and even played a role in the dramatic events of Aesop's Hare and the Tortoise! The energy and enthusiasm of the performers made every scene feel like a moment frozen in time.
Pupils donned tunics and laurel wreaths, embracing their roles with passion. One particularly exciting moment featured Jack as Mrs Plato with her lunch trolley!
The assembly concluded with a a lively Greek-inspired musical number "Hard As Nails", leaving the audience both entertained and enlightened.
With such a dynamic retelling of Ancient Greece's legacy, Year 5 proved that history isn’t just about the past—it’s an adventure worth stepping into!
A massive well done to all of our Golden Book children this week.
