'Vile Victorians' take over Colsterworth
Tue 10 Sep 2024This week, Panthers were transported to the time of the ‘Vile Victorians’ where they learned what a terrible place school was. Miss Taylor and Mrs Cornish took on the role of school mistresses and the class chanted to God, copied passages onto chalkboards and underwent hand cleanliness inspections. We quickly realised how few Rights they had compared to us today. Thankfully, the school mistresses couldn’t stay in character for too long and it was time to search for clues from Victorian past around Colsterworth. Drawing attention from many wowed members of the community, we identified the dead house, old taverns and the first school in the village. It really was a brilliant beginning to learning and we cannot wait to find out even more.

We have the Arts Wow Factor - Gold Artsmark Award!
Mon 02 Sep 2024We are thrilled to announce that we has been honoured with the prestigious Gold Artsmark Award by Arts Council England. This significant achievement underscores our dedication to excellence and innovation in arts education. The Gold Artsmark Award recognizes schools that excel in delivering high-quality arts and cultural education. It celebrates our ongoing efforts to nurture creativity, support talent, and foster a vibrant arts culture within our school community. This award is a testament to the hard work and collaboration of our staff, pupils, and the broader community.
Feedback from the Arts Council highlights our robust commitment to arts and culture, noting its measurable impact on both staff and pupils. The council commended our consistent provision of arts and cultural experiences through collaborations with local and national organizations, both within and outside the classroom. They particularly praised our initiatives with the Royal Opera House, the Colsterworth Music Festival, and our emphasis on whole-school participation following the pandemic. A special mention was given to the Arts Ambassadors, who have led sessions for KS1 and, was highlighted as a particular strength.
Miss Green expressed, "This has been a truly wonderful team effort, with the whole school community working together to ensure all pupils flourish in the arts. The collective effort of our staff, parents, and carers has been crucial in achieving this Gold Artsmark. Mrs. Bidwell and Mrs. Dawes have significantly enriched our music programs, while Mrs. Cornish has brought vibrant creativity to our dance initiatives through our partnership with Inspire+. Our Arts Ambassadors have also been exceptional in supporting and promoting the arts."
As we embark on this school year, we are excited to continue our journey of excellence in the arts, driven by the same dedication and enthusiasm that helped us achieve Gold Artsmark.

Ali Baba Raises the Roof
Thu 11 Jul 2024Year 6 wowed us this week with their performance of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. They sang and danced their hearts out to a packed audience of parents and friends. A huge well done to all of them for all the hard work they have put in and for the bravery of the soloists. Also a big shout out to 'Dan the Man' for stepping in at the last minute to play the huge role of Mustapha Widdle The Vizier. As a year 5 pupil this was not an easy task but he stepped up and gave a stunning performance.

Summer of Discovery
Fri 05 Jul 2024Our end of year Science Ambassador visit to Woolsthorpe Manor as part of the 'Summer of Discovery' activities was a fantastic experience for everyone! We were delighted to be invited by the National Trust to review the amazing science activities inspired by Sir Isaac Newton in preparation for the launch of their summer holiday activities.
During our visit, we delved into different investigations focusing on light, force and motion, and gravity. The hands-on approach allowed the children to make predictions, conduct observations, perform tests, and draw conclusions. These activities were filled with awe and wonder, sparking curiosity and excitement.
A special mention goes to the National Trust volunteer, who was simply amazing, ensuring that the experience was both educational and enjoyable. We are deeply grateful to the National Trust for providing this wonderful opportunity for the children, making science both fun and engaging.
