What a Super Snow Day!
Tue 19 Nov 2024WOW! What a super day we have had in the snow today making snowmen, snowballs and snow angels.
On Tuesday 19th November, Colsterworth School was wrapped up in a blanket of snow!
It was exciting to have the first snow of this academic year and the children and staff took advantage of the crisp morning to experience at first hand the wonder of nature. The snow on the playground and field was ‘deep and crisp and even’ until Kittens, Bobcats, Leopards, Tigers, Panthers and Jaguars had time to create snowmen, snow women and snow creatures. The children created snow angels and worked hard to roll enormous snow balls.
The children, teachers and Mrs Moore got their cosy coats and wellies on and then got busy with the serious job of having snowtastic fun!

A Journey Back in Time
Mon 18 Nov 2024Leopard Class had an unforgettable adventure at Lincoln Castle, immersing themselves in the wonders of medieval history. The visit began with an awe-inspiring walk along the castle walls, offering breathtaking views and a sense of the grandeur and strength of this historic site. The children eagerly stepped into the shoes of historians, exploring the castle’s fascinating past while learning how medieval castles were built and defended. Their enthusiasm for uncovering history’s secrets was truly inspiring!
Our budding artists showcased their creativity by crafting magnificent shields inspired by medieval designs. In the Great Hall, the students transformed into noble lords and ladies, knights, and servants as they role-played a grand medieval banquet. They were captivated by the opportunity to try on armour and learn about the life of a knight, further deepening their appreciation for the challenges and traditions of the era.
The day ended with an exhilarating archery session, where everyone showed great skill and respect for this ancient art. Throughout the trip, the children demonstrated their Leopard Class values of respect, care, and striving to "be the best we can." Their enthusiasm for learning and exploring history shone brightly, making the day a true highlight in their journey as young historians.

Time for Tapas!
Fri 15 Nov 2024As part of their Spanish learning, Year 5 put their knowledge of food and drink to the test by role playing in a Spanish cafè. The children experienced being a waiter as well as a customer. Cheese and ham sandwiches, olives and chorizo with some fizz to water it down were all consumed. Miss Taylor and Miss Pape were impressed with the level of Spanish spoken by all of the children. Muy bueno!

Year 5 are 'Pushing' their learning
Thu 14 Nov 2024As part of their Science and D.T learning, Panthers took part in a workshop all about levers, pullys and gears. It was incredibly interesting and the practical activities really helped us to understand the links between weight, forces and mechanisms.

Willoughby Art
Wed 06 Nov 2024Each year, the children of Colsterworth Primary School have the wonderful opportunity to display their God-given Art talents in the Willoughby Art Competition, a local event run by the Willoughby Memorial Trust Gallery in Corby Glen. This competition offers a space for our children to be creative, imaginative, and to shine in their art skills.
With last term’s Christian value focused on Creation and Creativity, we are thrilled to share some exciting news! Four of our incredible students have achieved remarkable success in this year’s competition. Through their dedication, imagination, and “Art Smarts,” they have shown us the beauty and inspiration they are capable of bringing into the world:
In Class 1 Age Group:
Highly Commended: Alice
3rd Prize: Oscar
In Class 2 Age Group:
2nd Prize: Tilly
Highly Commended: Oscar
Their artwork, along with selections from across the county, is now proudly on display at the Willoughby Memorial Trust Gallery until November 22nd. On this date, a special prize-giving ceremony will be held to honour their achievements, where each of the children, accompanied by two guests, will receive their prizes and certificates from the competition judges.
The children’s artwork has brightened our community, adding beauty, joy, and colour. This accomplishment marks the beginning of their artistic journey, and with their faith and talent, we know they will continue to flourish and create wonders. This is a true Colsterworth Primary WOW moment, and we look forward to seeing what amazing creations these talented young artists will bring to life next!

First Aid for Y5 and 6
Tue 05 Nov 2024Paige from Inspire Plus visited Year 5 & Year 6 today to deliver first aid training. The session was amazing and everyone fully engaged taking part in a range of activities that could be used to help someone who was injured, choking or not breathing. We hope that this session will give the children the confidence to help if they ever needed to use these skills.
