The Key Stage 1 and 2 children were buzzing with excitement as they watched the Royal Institution of Science's Explosive Food show, an eye-opening exploration into the science behind what we eat. The show revealed the incredible amount of energy stored in food, using a variety of thrilling chemistry and physics demonstrations that had the entire audience captivated.
From spectacular fizzy fountains of Coke shooting into the air to some hilariously gross, yet fascinating, insights into how our digestive system works, the children were treated to a sensory-packed experience that balanced education with fun. The dramatic visuals and interactive elements not only amazed but also engaged the children in thinking about the science behind everyday things—like food—in a whole new way.
From the beginning to the end the children were a captivating audience, the atmosphere was electric, and it was clear that the children's curiosity had been sparked. We had a room full of potential future scientists, eagerly discussing what they had learned and keen to explore more.
A huge thank you to Bourne Sci-Fest for providing our pupils with this wonderful, hands-on opportunity to learn and be inspired!
