• 3G Tell us a Tall Tale!

  What a performance! Class 3G thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity of welcoming their parents and carers into school to watch our class assembly. The assembly was based on Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, which takes well known fairy tales and gives them a twist. After a class vote, the children decided to perform the gigantic musical version of Jack and the Beanstalk. In this musical telling of the rhyme, Jack is not only lazy, but also rather smelly! He may live happy in the end, but the same cannot be said for Mum! We are incredibly proud of the children for their amazing acting, super singing and 'can do' attitude they all displayed in preparation for this assembly. A huge well done Class 3G.

  

• Downing Street reply to Year 6 Deforestation Letters

  As part of our 'Amazon Adventure' topic last term, 6C wrote to Boris Johnson, to persuade him to do something about palm oil production and the destruction of the rainforests.

   

  The children used emotive language, technical vocabulary, alliteration, the rule of three and other persuasive writing techniques to try to convince the Prime Minister that deforestation is an important topic which needs to be discussed and acted upon. 

   

  Today, we received a reply. Our student voice has made an impact and we are thankful that our thoughts and feelings will, in some small way, ensure a brighter future for the world's rainforests and the animals that live there. 

   

  Year 6 truly are 'Agents of Change.'

  

• Tree Planting for Earth Day 2022

  The Student Council and the Eco warriors together have planted some donated trees on Earth Day 2022. The theme this year was Invest In Our Planet and Harvey has certainly shown that he wants to be an Agent of Change. And thanks to Harvey’s enthusiasm and caring nature, he really wanted to make a difference for the school and the planet. Harvey is one of our Y4 school councillors and came to the meetings with lots of super ideas to improve the school grounds. With some assistance he managed to get a range of native tree saplings which have been planted around the grounds for future children to enjoy. 

   

  Harvey planted the first of the trees, a wild cherry outside his classroom. He and the Y4 Eco team have been able to keep a close eye on the weather and have made sure they have all had a good start. Colsterworth school will benefit from these young Nature SMART ambassadors for years to come.

• Super Heroes Assemble!

  The children (and staff) came together today in aid of Comic Relief Red Nose Day by dressing up as Super Heroes. 

   

  Alongside the Marvel and DC characters it was lovely to see doctors, nurses, mums, dads, teachers and other key workers represented.

   

  One of our favourites was Mia in Year 6 who came as Rosie the Riveter, from the iconic propaganda images of the Second World War. Rosie was the star of a campaign aimed at recruiting female workers for defence industries during World War II and she has become perhaps the most iconic image of working women.

  Year 4 had a fantastic fun-filled time at PGL this week taking part in outdoor and teambuilding activities. They have tried archery, climbing, abseiling and giant swing along with exciting evening activities. Have a look at some of our pictures.
