Well done to these four marvellous musicians who took part in the Colsterworth  Festival of Performing Arts at the weekend.

They did so well coming out with three third places, three second places and a first place between them.

We are so proud of them all and hope that they continue to showcase their God given talents.

    Well done girls.

  • We have the 'WOW' Factor at Colsterworth Performing Arts Festival

    Thu 22 Feb 2024

What an amazing day we have had!

When we set off in the pouring rain to take part in the Colsterworth Festival of Performing Arts, we could not have predicted the pride and absolute joy we felt to come away with 4 gold medals and 4 trophies.

The children have worked so hard on their performances, learning words and actions, perfecting their recorder tone and working together as a team to produce stunning performances which wowed the adjudicator.

Our Key Stage 1 choir performed first. They were absolutely amazing - so brave and showing great musicality for such young children. They placed joint first bringing home the KS1 Vocal Group cup.

Our Key Stage 2 children were next up and we could not have asked them for more enthusiasm.  The focus and concentration of the entire group created a powerful presence in the beautiful surroundings of Christchurch, Grantham.

The adjudicator said "You are a FORCE to be reckoned with guys!"

Their phenomenal performance earned them a gold medal and the Choral Cup for best vocal performance of the day.

Our Year 3 & Year 4 recorder groups were next to perform. Their tone and control was excellent and both came out with gold medals. Our Year 3 group also won the Recorder cup.

To top off a truly incredible day, our Key Stage 2 choir performance also won the Growler Shield for best performance of the event.

We have loved the opportunity to take part in the festival alongside other schools from the area. A lovely celebration of music and performance which has given the children the chance to listen to and appreciate different styles and genres.

We must also thank the Colsterworth Youth Committee for funding the transport costs, Mrs Bidwell, from the Lincolnshire Music Service, for her support with the recorders and Key Stage 1 choir and to Mrs Dawes for her dedication, enthusiasm and passion for music within our school.

  • We 'Totally Rock' in National Times Tables Competition!

    Fri 09 Feb 2024

The pupils and teaching staff at Colsterworth CE School are incredibly excited to announce that they came 14th place in the whole of the East Midlands in NSPCC Rocks - a times tables competition run by the internationally renowned, award-winning app and learning platform, Times Tables Rock Stars for NSPCC Number Day.  NSPCC Rocks required children to correctly answer as many multiplication and division questions as possible, to give their class and school the best chance of winning. The competition was fierce with 85,849,445 questions answered collectively by 277,437 pupils from more than 3,870 schools and 22,268 classes around the country!  The school’s statistics were astonishing too. On average, Year 6 pupils answered 685 questions correctly per pupil, with the best performing pupil answering an amazing 2,735 questions correctly in total.

Sarah Croxall, Maths Lead, said, ‘The pupils excelled themselves throughout NSPCC Rocks. Not only did they engage in some friendly competition but there were also some clear improvements in their recall and speed as time went on. That's always been our goal - to make learning maths basics so fun that pupils give it their all.’

  • Louder Than Life Music Workshop...we can’t wait to get drumming!

    Thu 08 Feb 2024

As part of our school’s Lincolnshire music service provision, we were delighted to have the opportunity to take part in a brilliant ‘Louder than Life’ music workshop.

During the workshop the children played the powerful Japanese Taiko drums. The size of these enormous drums and their low-end boom made them a fun instrument for the children to play.  The children learnt a series of authentic patterns along with useful Japanese words which allowed them to embrace the Japanese culture and to experience the power of the Taiko drums.

After learning a series of patterns, the fantastic finale was a group performance which beautifully showcased the skills the children had learnt during this amazing music session.

A huge thank you to Tim Brain and the ‘Louder than Life’ music team.
