  • Skills for LIVES

    Fri 30 Apr 2021

Year 5 and 6 at had a fabulous time today learning all about emergency First Aid in their class bubble.  We were visited by Ian from LIVES who taught the children the vital skills of a first responder and how to carry out CPR.  Ian was so impressed with how the children communicated and engaged with the tasks. These will definitely be skills for life!

  • Sunny with a Chance of Spanish Meatballs!

    Fri 30 Apr 2021

A little bit of Spain landed in Colsterworth this Tuesday as pupils enjoyed the opportunity to create their own sensational Spanish dish of meatballs in a smoky tomato sauce.

Led by Darren from Roots to Food, Children across key stage 2 excitedly took on the role of chefs chopping, rolling and steaming all their fresh ingredients to build their mouth-watering savoury dishes.

There were smiles all round as the children proudly showed off their cooking skills and tucked in to their tasty creations. What a wonderful inspiring day for the children, full of hands on experience and newly learnt skills.

We expect to see many of the Colsterworth families enjoying home cooked Spanish feasts this week!

He has pictures of his family in this area to remind him how important his family are to him. Jonas said his favourite Christian Value was ‘Perseverance’ as it helps him to work hard at school and home.

  • All Hands On Deck for 1A Pirate Day

    Tue 20 Apr 2021

Wow – Reception had a stupendous start to our new topic on Tuesday 20th April as we all took part in Pirate Day…aargh!

It was all hands on deck and we had a full crew of shipmates and captains all ready and looking shipshape for sailing the seven seas.  We had pirates with swords, pirates with telescopes, pirates with parrots, pirates with scary scars and a whole ‘ship’ full of pirates with smiles on their faces.

We played pirate themed games where we had to get into the role of a pirate; scrubbing the decks, climbing the rigging, looking for land and digging up buried treasure.  Throughout the day we all tried very hard to speak like pirates and we gave ourselves fearsome pirate names such as Pirate Snowflake, First Mate Hotrod and Captain Hook!  In the afternoon we went on an adventure to sail around the world to find the island that had the hidden treasure. We sailed alongside sharks and found lands full of lions, parrots and penguins before finding our pirate treasure.  Luckily no one had to walk the plank (phew!)

It was a super start to our ‘Ahoy there! Would you invite a Pirate for tea?’topic and we all had a fantastic time.

  • Our 'Egg'citing Easter 'Eggs'travaganza

    Thu 01 Apr 2021

We've seen 'egg'cellent Easter hats in the form of fluffy sheep and rabbits, alongside the more traditional Easter bonnets. We've had 'egg'ceptional eggs masquerading as well known TV presenters, film and book characters and we've protected 'eggs'traordinary eggs with space modules to prevent them from being injured when dropped from a great height by the dastardly Mr Mitchell!

The children have become 'eggs'perts in problem solving and teamwork during their scavenger hunt and this afternoon our 'eggs'hausted pupils have enjoyed a film session in their bubbles ready for an 'eggs'hilarating Easter holiday!
