  • A Fond Farewell To Our Lovely Year 6 Class of 2019

    Fri 19 Jul 2019

Year 6 have had a busy week this week with performances, leavers assemblies and church worship. They have danced, sung, laughed, boxed, juggled, built walls, cheered and scooted through their last week at Colsterworth Primary and we wish them all the best as they move on to their new schools in September.

There has been an exceptional improvement in attendance this term at Colsterworth School. As a school we have achieved an average overall percentage of 96% attendance for the year and with your continued support we know we can improve attendance in the next school year. Congratulations and a big well done to Millie (Y4) for winning the family meal voucher for her amazing attendance in Term 5 & 6

Well done to Hawking who achieved the best class attendance of the term and received a £25 Amazon voucher to spend on resources for their classroom.

  • Bongo Bandits Steal The Show!

    Tue 16 Jul 2019

Our fabulous year 6 leavers went out with a flourish on Tuesday at their end of year production. Year 6 showed us that they really do have the WOW factor and can fly like the geese to produce an amazing performance. Their singing was brilliant, the solos tuneful and confident, lines crisp and clear and the comedy timed to perfection. With a guest appearance from Humphrey the Camel and the man who sells meat, Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits left us howling with laughter and raising the roof with our applause.

Well done year 6. A well-deserved congratulations on a fantastic end of year performance.

Other activities included an i-spy treasure hunt and class games.

  • Year 2 Explore Rutland Water

    Thu 04 Jul 2019

The Year 2 children had a fabulous day of exploration and learning at the Birdwatching Centre at Rutland Water. We began by going pond dipping! The children used nets to catch different creatures such as water boatmen, great diving beetles and pond snails. After that, we went minibeast hunting in the woods. We used brushes to gently brush the bug into the container. Finally, we walked to a birdwatching hut and used binoculars to identify different types of birds. On our walk back to the centre we had a scavenging hut where we had to find a coloured stone, empty snail shell, feather, a twig, some bark and a nibbled leaf. We had a fantastic day learning all about animals and their habitats to enhance our Science learning back at school.

  • Year 5 STEM Day at Casterton College

    Mon 01 Jul 2019

Year 5 had an amazing and informative time when they visited Casterton College Rutland today for a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths day (STEM). Their activities included exploring space inside an inflatable dome in the hall followed by a bridge building challenge in the D & T room. During the afternoon they combined engineering and maths by planning, costing and constructing a structure to hold a tennis ball off the table for 10 seconds. Finally into a science room for a chance to work with 'highly toxic' M & Ms in a series of chemistry experiments.

"It was a really fun and memorable day!"

"It was extraordinary in the dome. The pictures were huge!"

    "The science was really interesting!"

  • Perseverance and Adventure for Year 6 Leavers

    Mon 01 Jul 2019
Our Year 6 children enjoyed a fantastic day of activities at Walesby Activity Centre near Newark today, funded by their own hard work and fundraising efforts. The pupils faced challenges in the Cave Maze, overcame their fears on the indoor climbing wall, felt the wind rush through their hair on the Zip Line and braved the chill in the outdoor pool. An amazing experience creating wonderful memories for them to cherish as they move on to their new schools in a few weeks time.
