Well done to all of our winners. You all have the Colsterworth 'WOW' Factor!
  • Our Cross Country Runners show they are Body and People Smart!

    Wed 25 Sep 2019

Over the last three Wednesdays children from our year 5 & 6 class have been showing off their running skills at the Mike Bundy Cross Country event.

The event saw children from across the South Kesteven area race along a gruelling grass track at the Grantham Meres in both sunshine and showers.

With over 150 children competing, Colsterworth did themselves proud! Every child showed amazing perseverance and resilience as they ran week after week. Mrs Cornish was delighted to see the fantastic teamwork the children displayed as they cheered each other along and ran alongside the track to motivate those who needed it. Every child succeeded in improving their placing through the week and the sense of personal achievement was amazing, the smiles on all their faces showed it clearly. A big well done to all the children for pushing themselves forwards and working so hard on this challenge.

  • Fairytale Magic in Key Stage 1

    Fri 20 Sep 2019

We had dragons, knights, wolves and princesses roaming the halls today as our youngest children were transported to a fairytale world full of fun.

They have looked at the 'mirror, mirror on the wall' to talk and write about their characters, created commendable castles and made our story starter sticks to help with our Traditional Tales'

  • Making our mark for Democracy Day!

    Thu 19 Sep 2019

What a start to a new school year!

Thursday 19th September was Democracy Day at Colsterworth CE Primary School and this year our amazing children have really embraced Democracy Day with record numbers putting themselves forward as Student Councillors from Y1 - Y6. Their work and effort was evident as they presented their manifestos to their peers with confidence and enthusiasm.

UNICEF Article 12 states that every child should have their opinion heard, and so everyone was given the opportunity to vote for which child would best represent them as a Student Councillor. They were given a polling card, which they then exchanged for a ballot paper to cast their vote.

The results will be announced in a special assembly on next week, where the children will receive their new badges and be officially sworn in as Student Councillors.

The Student Council will continue to be led by Class Teacher Mrs Emma Helliwell. We are sure you can look forward to future Student Council news.

  • We've got a Golden Ticket!

    Fri 13 Sep 2019

On Friday 13th September 2019 children at Colsterworth Primary School opened the doors for the first time to their brand new Roald Dahl-themed library. The library was officially opened by Reverend Neil, Vicar of the Colsterworth Group of Parishes and what a better day to open a Roald Dahl library than on Roald Dahl Day! Each child was presented with a ‘Golden Ticket’ as they entered their new library for the first time and everyone joined in the fun across school and enjoyed taking part in Roald Dahl-themed workshops from stories such as ‘James and the Giant Peach’ and ‘The Twits’ to celebrate the occasion.

Over the course of a year and inspired by the Student Council’s wonderful ideas, a team of designers, joiners and Christopher Green a Nottinghamshire artist, came together to create the inspirational learning space where children’s eyes light up as they walk through ‘Giant’s Country’, explore ‘Mr Fox’s Den’ and snuggle up with a good book next to ‘Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory’!

Full of brand new exciting books, space for children to work in small groups and a fantastic story chair to curl up on, children will never miss the opportunity to be immersed in books, discover new authors and secure a life-long love for reading.

Miss Aldiss, Year 3 Teacher, said, ‘It has been wonderful to see the transformation unfold, but it has been even better to watch the children become truly inspired to read for pleasure.' Children and staff alike feel very lucky to have such an amazing resource within our school and I would like to thank everyone who has helped make our vision a reality. Our new library really does have the ‘WOW Factor!’
