Welcome

‘Every child will be valued, cared for and excel in our exceptional school’

We are delighted to welcome you to Colsterworth Church of England Primary School.

At Colsterworth we are proud to be a school where learning comes first. Our curriculum is exciting and inspires in our pupils a love of learning. Our vision for each child is that they will work towards their personal best, in a caring atmosphere, which reflects British values and the Christian values of our school. We encourage our pupils to have a very positive self-image and to be confident in their learning.

   Mrs Sarah Moore

Executive Headteacher/CEO

Our Vision

We have a vision of a community in which each person (child and adult) is offered the opportunity to fulfil their full potential and to understand themselves and be valued for who they are. Through a stimulating and challenging learning environment, we pursue academic excellence and seek the flourishing of all members of the school community. As inclusive and caring church schools, our commitment is to help pupils become thoughtful, open-minded and compassionate human beings who have the knowledge, skills and motivation they need to bring about positive transformation in the world. This is because we know we are all God’s children and all can articulate this.

“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can.”

 John Wesley

The curriculum is at the heart of our school and central to achieving our vision because it is through a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that a life-long passion for learning is ignited and children are given the best possible chance to succeed. We recognise that children are created in the image of God but also value their individuality as they explore their own God given talents and are treated with respect and dignity at all times.

Our intent is to give all members of our community every opportunity to achieve the highest of standards. We believe that our broad and balanced curriculum, underpinned by British and Christian values and rich in language, knowledge and skills, plays a major part in delivering excellence, which permeates through every element of school life. Our curriculum development journey will always be ongoing as we are constantly revisiting and revising our curriculum design in light of research and our children’s needs. Our curriculum drivers for the journey are….

  • Respect
  • Personal growth and success
  • Spirituality
  • Community– local and global

You will see smiling faces when you visit us, but you will also see excpetional learning and teaching in every part of the school. Our pupils achieve great results and academic standards are very important to us. We also love sports, music, dance and drama and produce fabulous art work across a broad curriculum. Other opportunities include inspiring educational visits for all pupils and a number of residential visit opportunities will be offered to our older pupils.

We have close links with our own village church and charity groups. Our pupils reach out to groups in the village and the wider environment. We also visit and celebrate festivals of other faiths and religions, as well as support charities near and far.

Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on our relationship with parents/carers. We believe that children learn best when home and school work together for their benefit.  The school offers extended childcare provision from 7.30am to 6.00pm.  This takes the form of a Breakfast Club and After-School Kids’ Club.

Care and safety of the individual is seen as central to the roles of all members of staff, trustees and governors. Arrangements for safeguarding pupils are firmly established in Colsterworth policies and working practices and daily emphasis through the ethos of the school.

At Colsterworth School we are never complacent. We have hard-working staff, parents/carers, pupils, trustees and governors who work together to achieve a shared vision for a school community where everyone can feel safe and happy and can achieve to their personal, social and academic potential.

We know that the bar is, quite rightly, set high for education now and in the future and we welcome this. We will continue to develop our fabulous school and be ‘architects for the future of education’ based on our school to school partnership with Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy and Bourne Elsea Park Church of England Academy.

By working in partnership we are assured of excellent support for all our great leaders, teachers, staff, trustees and governors which will ensure exceptional provision for all our pupils and our community.

Our future is bright as we continue to ‘Strive for Excellence Whilst Caring for All’! We look forward to working in partnership with you as together we guide your child through these important primary school years of their education.
