  • Spectacular Sports Day

    Thu 23 May 2019

Colsterworth hosted a Sports extravaganza today wowing the crowds of parents and carers with our enthusiasm and energy.

The day began with our wonderful year 6 sports ambassadors leading the whole school out on to the field to the applause of our waiting crowd. After an opening ceremony led by the high flying antics of the school’s cheerleading squad the children joined their house teams to take part in a fast paced circuit of sporting activities. With fantastic cheers from our parents and carers, the children dribbled hockey balls, squeezed through hoola hoops and sprung forwards in the standing long jump.

After a refresh at lunch time, the children returned to the field to show off their competitive edge in the individual races. As the bunting flapped in the breeze, the parents and carers returned in force to enjoy the gorgeous sunny weather while cheering all of our children on. Each child worked their hardest to speed along in both a novelty race and a flat sprint while the other children showed great sportsmanship in willing them on. After egg & spoon races, speedy sprints and a very close called relay, the children proudly wore their ribbons to hear the results of the day’s events. At the end of the day, once our cheerleading squad had the opportunity to wave their pom-poms once more, Witham house were announced the team winners!

All in all the day was an amazing, sunny, energetic and honking success. With a combination of fantastic parent & carer support, wonderful hardworking staff and most of all energetic, happy children we had our best Sports Day to date!

  • Eco Warriors striving for success!

    Tue 07 May 2019

Our newly appointed Eco Warriors held their first Eco meeting today with Miss Worrall and Mrs Nichols. The team began by discussing the steps they will be following in order to achieve their Bronze Eco award and subsequently the Silver and Green Flag awards.

Their first step was to complete an environmental review to find out what things we are doing well as a school and things we could be doing better. The review covered all 10 Eco School topics including Energy, Waste, Litter, Water, Biodiversity, Marine, School Grounds, Healthy Living, Biodiversity and Transport. All the children were enthusiastic and had many ideas of how we could make the school more Eco friendly. They decided to focus on two topics, Energy and Waste.

After completing the review, the children were set the challenge of creating an Eco Code to help remind children and staff around school to make a difference. Keep an eye out for the Eco Code posters around school over the next couple of weeks! We can wait to see what difference the Eco Warriors are going to make.

  • Legacy Challenge Launch Collective Worship

    Thu 02 May 2019

Today our Bronze Ambassadors introduced an exciting new activity that is happening at school. It is called the Legacy Challenge, and it has been created by the sports charity Inspire+. They want to “inspire more young people to be more physically active and lead healthier lifestyles by achieving our best like the Legacy Challenge Ambassadors have”. We will be doing this through the Legacy Challenge.

The five Inspire+ Ambassadors have each created a challenge for the children to complete. The challenges are focused around our healthy lifestyles, healthy eating and physical activity.

We hope that The Legacy Challenge will inspire us all to achieve our best  just like the ambassadors have!
