We would like to take the opportunity to make a heartfelt thank you for taking the governments advice to only send your children to school if absolutely necessary today. We have only had parents in this morning who are key workers and have no alternative childcare to look after their children. From all of our staff, thank you.

  • More fun at PGL!

    Tue 17 Mar 2020

Some of our children were living the high life today as they enjoyed a morning of activities at PGL Caythorpe. The event, provided by the Sports Charity Inspire+, gave a selection of Key Stage 2 children the opportunity to try out brand new outdoor and adventurous activities such as archery and a giant swing!

The fun filled morning challenged the children to use all of their courage, teamwork skills and definitely their singing voices as they enthusiastically joined in with their PGL leaders singing their way between activities.

he smiles on their faces were a clear sign of their enjoyment as they supported each other to step outside of their comfort zone swinging high on the giant swing.

It was a fantastic morning for all involved!

  • Orla Receives Double Blue Peter Commendation.

    Thu 12 Mar 2020

One of our fabulous children has this week received her second Blue Peter badge.

Whilst watching Blue Peter, Orla, one of our year 5 pupils, decided that she would draw and annotate a picture to send into the long standing show and was lucky enough to have hers chosen to appear behind the presenters in an episode last month. Orla received a sort-after green Blue Peter badge for her hard work.

She was pleased with her prize so she decided to send another drawing to the team at the BBC and was surprised when a second Blue Peter badge landed on her doorstep - this time a blue one!

Orla is very proud of her achievement and says she will continue to send pictures and letters into the show. Maybe one day she will have a complete set.

  • Well Done to our Golden Book children!

  • Colsterworth 'Excellent' Inspection

    Fri 06 Mar 2020

Colsterworth, as a Church of England Primary School, had a Section 48 Inspection on Monday 3rd February.  Dr Anne Lumb led the inspection.

The Inspector graded our school on the following question:

‘How effective is the school’s distinctive Christian vision, established and promoted by leadership at all levels, in enabling pupils and adults to flourish?’

In line with current Ofsted practice the inspector looked at the outcomes of the pupils and the provision made to deal with these areas of the school’s life. Dr Lumb had a full programme for the day and spent parts of this talking both formally and informally to pupils, staff, trustees/governors, parents/carers.  In addition, she attended our Collective Worship led by Reverend Neil and observed lessons.

Mrs Sarah Moore (Executive Headteacher) comments “We are absolutely delighted that our Section 48 inspection went so brilliantly and that Colsterworth CE Primary School has been awarded an ‘Excellent’ judgement. This is particularly wonderful as Colsterworth only joined Abbey Academies Trust 18 months ago after the Ofsted ‘Inadequate’ judgement in December 2018”.

Mrs Louise Jordan (Head of School) added “My colleagues and I are sure that everyone will be as thrilled and as proud as we are with this judgement and with all the rapid improvements at Colsterworth CE Primary School”.

Mr John Kirkman, Co-Chairman of the Trustees, gave the following comments: This report gives high praise to all that takes place at Colsterworth and whilst acknowledging the hard work, skills, dedication and commitment of everyone involved, it is, once again, particularly pleasing to note the very complimentary comments about your children. We are all tremendously proud of them”.

Have a look at the report in our Letters section.

  • World Book Day 2020

    Thu 05 Mar 2020

On Thursday 5th March Colsterworth Primary School was once again buzzing with the excitement of another World Book Day where children and adults alike have the opportunity to spend the whole day celebrating a love for reading. From Willy Wonka to Harry Potter, all the children were dressed to impress and even Tweedledee and Tweedledum made an appearance!

The theme of this year’s World Book Day was ‘Share a Million Stories’ so the children were treated to extracts from the teacher’s favourite stories and then spent time visiting each other’s classrooms to share stories.

The excitement didn’t stop there as there were prizes galore, kindly donated by Grantham Book Services. Of course, there was the annual ‘best dressed’ competition and also a ‘design a potato character’ where the entries wowed the judges!

Miss Aldiss, Year 3 Teacher and English lead said, ‘It has been wonderful to see the whole school bursting with enthusiasm for World Book Day! As teachers, we naturally try to promote a love of reading throughout the year, but World Book Day is always an extra special opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy their favourites!’
