What an amazing day we have had!
When we set off in the pouring rain to take part in the Colsterworth Festival of Performing Arts, we could not have predicted the pride and absolute joy we felt to come away with 4 gold medals and 4 trophies.
The children have worked so hard on their performances, learning words and actions, perfecting their recorder tone and working together as a team to produce stunning performances which wowed the adjudicator.
Our Key Stage 1 choir performed first. They were absolutely amazing - so brave and showing great musicality for such young children. They placed joint first bringing home the KS1 Vocal Group cup.
Our Key Stage 2 children were next up and we could not have asked them for more enthusiasm. The focus and concentration of the entire group created a powerful presence in the beautiful surroundings of Christchurch, Grantham.
The adjudicator said "You are a FORCE to be reckoned with guys!"
Their phenomenal performance earned them a gold medal and the Choral Cup for best vocal performance of the day.
Our Year 3 & Year 4 recorder groups were next to perform. Their tone and control was excellent and both came out with gold medals. Our Year 3 group also won the Recorder cup.
To top off a truly incredible day, our Key Stage 2 choir performance also won the Growler Shield for best performance of the event.
We have loved the opportunity to take part in the festival alongside other schools from the area. A lovely celebration of music and performance which has given the children the chance to listen to and appreciate different styles and genres.
We must also thank the Colsterworth Youth Committee for funding the transport costs, Mrs Bidwell, from the Lincolnshire Music Service, for her support with the recorders and Key Stage 1 choir and to Mrs Dawes for her dedication, enthusiasm and passion for music within our school.
