Back in time to Victorian England

Year 5 enjoyed an immersive day of activities at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse today as they stepped back in time to learn about the life and hardships of people in the Victorian workhouse. The day took a turn however, when they were asked to identify the culprit of a murder! We met four suspects who each told us their stories (and their alibis!) and gave us an insight into their lives in the workhouse.

We had a Victorian school lesson, lent a hand in the kitchen and the laundry room and found out about the jobs that workhouse inmates would have done, all while piecing together the clues hidden in their character profiles.

We had a fantastic day and look forward to continuing our topic work with a Victorian Day in school next week.
