Year 2 Scientists Explore Hygiene and Germs!

This week, Year 2 became brilliant young scientists during an exciting science lesson all about hygiene and how germs spread.

We carried out a fun and slightly messy experiment to simulate sneezing using spray bottles to show how far "germs" (water!) can travel when we sneeze. First, we tested sneezing without a tissue — and the germs went surprisingly far! Then we tried sneezing with a tissue held in front, and the results were clear: the tissue stopped most of the spray.

It was a powerful way to see how important it is to catch our sneezes and use tissues properly to help stop the spread of germs.

The children were full of curiosity and excitement, making predictions, observing carefully, and talking about what they had learned. They now understand how small actions — like using a tissue and washing our hands — make a big difference in keeping ourselves and others healthy.

Well done, Year 2 — fabulous science and fantastic hygiene awareness!
