About The School
Our present school building was opened in 1973, although there has been a school in the village since 1824.
We cater for children aged from four to eleven. The Church of England retains an influence through the School Governing Body, whilst the Local Authority is responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds and the funding of the educational provision at the school.
The staff at Colsterworth consists of a team of highly qualified, experienced teachers,
plus vital contributions from teaching assistants and volunteer parents and friends.
The aim of all Church Schools is to provide the best possible education for each child
within the context of a caring Christian community. Colsterworth School combines this
philosophy with that of the National Curriculum.
There are currently 122 children on roll. They are taught within four mixed age classes, which usually comprise of two year groups only. As usual in 2011/12, our numbers in year groups are very unequal and therefore we have had to organise classes slightly differently to keep numbers manageable and to ensure that pupils get the best provision possible:
Reception - 1 Curie Year 1/2 - 1 Darwin Years 3 / 4 - 2 Hawking Years 5 / 6 - 2 Lister
